Our mission is to protect the existing wetlands on Lake Koshkonong and Rock River and to promote the life of natural plants, fish, birds, and other wildlife in the basin.
Our next meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on February 23, 2010 at the Milton Town Hall (23 First St, Milton, WI). Jim Congdon, Rock River Basin Supervisor, will be talking about the latest efforts to improve the Rock River Basin.

September 16, 2006: Today we held the official dedication of the Greater Lake Koshkonong Important Bird Area (IBA). Together with the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative (WBCI), we held a ceremony to recognize Lake Koshkonong and the surrounding area as an IBA. There were several speakers, including flutist Debra Towns (also a state Representative). The ceremony concluded with cake and a walk next to Lake Koshkonong, including the diverse habitats of a restored prairie, floodplain forest, and wet meadow. Read the press release... The Rock-Koshkonong Lake District (RKLD) wants to increase the river and lake levels in an effort to improve boating and recreation. While we understand and sympathize with this desire, we are concerned about the potential adverse impacts to the more than 4000 acres of wetlands adjacent to the lake.
