Shearer Farm
Our July meeting was our annual picnic held this year at the Shearer Farm. We enjoyed a perfect summer afternoon, brats and hamburgers, and many delicious dishes to pass. We relaxed under the trees, and admired the beautiful Wood Duck decoy carved and donated by Bob Swann. It was so beautiful that $350 was spent on raffle tickets by members hoping to take the duck home. The lucky winner was Anna Marie Yates – she smiled all the way to her car, carrying the duck under her arm. Many thanks to Bob Swann – the proceeds are much appreciated by our organization.
On a sad note, we walked down to the lake and observed the terrible destruction to the wetlands and to a home that were caused by the flood of 2008.
In all, 42 members, friends and family had a great afternoon!
